Fredensborg and Sudbury have been twinned since 2007.
Fredensborg Municipality is situated on the east coast of Nordsjælland (North Zealand). Its convenient location in the heart of serene countryside, but close to the capital Copenhagen and the coast, makes it highly sought-after. High speed rail connections link Fredensborg to the rest of Denmark and beyond.
Fredensborg is famous for the summer palace of the Danish Royal Family. The beautiful Palace gardens include Normandsdalen filled with the recently restored statues of Norwegian country people. The town has always attracted visitors - Hans Christian Anderson and Søren Kirkegaard are among the town's many admirers.
Students from Thomas Gainsborough School worked alongside students from across Scandinavia at the International Film School, hosted by Fredensborg. They wrote, directed and produced films on environmental themes. (October 2019,2023.)
